last night while k and his friend turned into teenage boys and turned our basement into a video game arcade, i was on the third floor (as far away from the yelling as possible) in my peaceful (and clean!) sewing room making bee blocks! it was a very productive night indeed, i got all of the bee blocks done for the 2 bees that i'm in (oh yeah, i joined another all-canadian bee after the first one).
june is ariane's month in the sew modern bee, she asked for a 12.5 inch block with a traditional, smaller block in the centre, encased by a thin 1/2 inch border and a wider grey border around it. she had sent over some adorable hunky dory fabrics along with some kona white and coal.
i went with a star block with a little pin wheel in the middle for the centre block. she also asked us to make a 5-inch signature block, in any style, for the back of her quilt, and i thought i'd try a little wonky action, so this is what i came up with.
i hope you like them, ariane!
in the great white north bee (i just love that name, ha!), june is bee-mama kristy's month. she asked for 2 wonky quarter log cabin blocks based on a tutorial by quilt dad, and sent over some seriously delicious pink, orange and green strips of fabrics. for the first block i used mostly the orange fabrics, i call this cutie citrus.
the second block i used all the pink and green fabrics, and i call this cutie, well, pink + green. very creative, i know.
i've never done any kind of wonky blocks before, but i was very excited to try it out. they turned out pretty good, i think. the most outter strips could be wonkier i guess. overall, i'm pretty happy with them, and i hope she likes them too!
oh gosh are they all gorgeous! great use of color and pattern!
ReplyDeleteI think you need to work a little harder on your wonkiness... =S
